Behind the lens
I'm Andrei Mihalache, a destination wedding photographer based in Puerto Vallarta, on Mexico's Pacific coast.
I've photographed more than 1,300 weddings over the past 15 years, in Mexico and around the world. My experience in luxury hospitality has taught me to pay as much attention to how people feel as to the photographs I create.
I'm also an oil painter. Painting shapes my understanding of light, composition, and the details that give each image its character.
I bring those experiences to every wedding, combining spontaneous moments with thoughtfully composed portraits. I offer direction when it helps, and step back when it doesn't.
A deeper way of seeing
No two weddings unfold quite the same way. Light changes, schedules shift, and the moments worth remembering rarely announce themselves. Years of experience have taught me to anticipate what I can, prepare for what I can't, and stay attentive to the people in front of me.
In Punta de Mita, that might mean making the most of strong afternoon light; elsewhere along the Riviera Nayarit coast, it might mean carefully lighting an evening reception. The approach changes with the setting, but the aim remains the same: photographs that feel true to the day, without making the camera the center of it.
