Same difference
Most people nowadays, when they think of immigrants, they look for these abismal differences, when, in reality, we are much more alike than we are divergent.
If we go back in time far enough, we realize that we are all immigrants in the end - not to mention we are all related.
Without a “weird accent”, without a set of “contrasting features”, we could all be anyone else, someone specifically or no one in particular or even no one at all - a figment of a hyperactive imagination.
In this essay all the characters are anonymous and, at the same time, they could be anyone we know or even ourselves.
